About
The longer story.
I'm a software designer at RoleModel Software, where I've spent the last 5+ years working at the intersection of design, development, and product thinking.
My path here wasn't traditional. I started in construction — installing windows and doors, framing houses, laying tile. Then I led a GIS field team for the Veteran's Administration, photographing and mapping headstones across Midwest national cemeteries. Each step taught me something about craft, attention to detail, and doing work that matters.
I found my way into tech through a product development internship at RoleModel, where I quickly discovered that the same instincts that made me good at construction — measuring twice, thinking in systems, caring about quality — translated directly into design and development.
Today, I bridge the gap between design and engineering. I design interfaces in Figma, then implement them with CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. I present work to clients, mentor junior designers, and push to improve how our team thinks about design.
I also use AI as a core part of how I build — not as a novelty, but as a genuine tool for turning ideas into real products. I run Theophilus Creative, a freelance practice where I help small businesses with branding and web design.
Outside of work, my faith is central to who I am. Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life, and I seek to live the life He has called me to in His Word.
I'm based in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. If you want to connect, reach out at theojluciano@gmail.com.
